LOS ANGELES CHARGERS linebacker Denzel Perryman was arrested on Friday on a felony weapons charge.
According to reports, the NFL star was taken into custody after he was found with five firearms during a traffic stop at around 9.30pm.
GettyDenzel Perryman was arrested late on Friday in relation to felony weapons charges[/caption]Per ESPN, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department statement read: “On August 1, 2025, at 9:30 p.m., South Los Angeles Station deputies conducted a traffic stop on Los Angeles Chargers football player Denzel Perryman, 32, for vehicle code violations.
“During the traffic stop deputies discovered five firearms in Mr. Perryman’s vehicle, two of which were assault style rifles.
“He was arrested and booked on weapons violation charges and was cooperative with deputies.
“Mr. Perryman is being held without bail at South Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station and is scheduled to appear at Inglewood Court on Tuesday August 5, 2025.”
Perryman, 32, joined the Chargers from the Houston Texans in March of last year.
It is his second stint with the organisation, after the Chargers drafted him 48th overall in 2015.
In a statement given to NFL Network, Perryman’s agent Ron Butler said: “We are aware of the recent reports regarding Denzel Perryman’s arrest in Los Angeles.
“At this time, we are still gathering facts and will fully cooperate with the process.

“While we do not take this situation lightly, we remain confident that the matter will be resolved fairly and in accordance with the law.

The Florida native is entering his 10th season in the NFL.
During this time he has had two spells with the Chargers either side of stints with the Carolina Panthers, the Las Vegas Raiders and the Houston Texans.
The experienced league veteran also appeared in the 2021 Pro Bowl.
Perryman made 55 tackles and had one sack after re-joining the Chargers ahead of last season.
He signed a one-year contract extension this year and was set to be an important fixture in their defense.
