ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’re in for a fabulous weather weekend. Of course, some rain would be nice for our gardens and farms, and there is some wildfire smoke on the way from Canada, but other than that, this will be a great time for any outdoor activities as temperatures stay at or a little refreshingly below normal and no muggy air alongside sunny skies.
Things are starting out a little crisp this morning across Western New York as clear skies overnight allowed a lot of heat to escape; the Rochester airport even reported a low of 48 degrees! A little taste of fall… But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Temperatures will rise through the 50s and 60s this morning and peak in the upper 70s this afternoon through the evening, making for absolutely splendid conditions for all things outdoors. Dew points stay below 50 degrees, so no muggy air whatsoever.
Starting this evening some more smoke will move in from Canada, and peak Sunday evening. Check back in for an update on the air quality forecast for then, but today it should be moderate at the very worst. Hazy skies will make for a pretty sunset both days. Temperatures peak in the mid 80s tomorrow, and again no mugginess.
Dry conditions remain in place through the first half of next week as high pressure lazily slogs along. Once it gets into New England, our wind will start to come out of the south which could bring up enough moisture for an afternoon shower Thursday and Friday. Heat slowly builds throughout the week, possibly getting up to 90 degrees by next Sunday as humidity eventually returns as well.
