Nothing More keeps its streak of No. 1s on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart going, scoring its fourth ruler in a row — all from the same album — on the Aug. 9-dated tally.
Its latest leader is “Freefall,” featuring Chris Daughtry.
Nothing More’s No. 1 run dates back to June of last year, when “If It Doesn’t Hurt” ruled for two weeks. Three songs with featured vocals from the band’s hard rock peers have followed: “Angel Song,” featuring Disturbed’s David Draiman, last November; “House on Sand,” with I Prevail’s Eric Vanlerberghe, this May; and now “Freefall.”
Carnal, which houses all four No. 1s, is the first album to spin off four Mainstream Rock Airplay leaders since Papa Roach’s Ego Trip. That 2022 set yielded the No. 1s “Kill the Noise,” “No Apologies,” “Cut the Line” and “Leave a Light On,” in 2021-24.
Nothing More has five No. 1s on Mainstream Rock Airplay in all, with its latest four joining “Go to War” in 2017.
As for Daughtry, “Freefall” is his first Mainstream Rock Airplay No. 1 as a solo artist and third overall, following two leaders — “Artificial” and “Pieces,” both in 2024 — with his band Daughtry. His only previous appearance on the chart as a solo act was via Sevendust’s “The Past,” which reached No. 27 in 2008.
Concurrently, “Freefall” leaps 23-18 on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, up 21% to 2.1 million audience impressions in the week ending July 31, according to Luminate.
Carnal, Nothing More’s seventh LP, debuted at No. 9 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart in July 2024 and has earned 90,000 equivalent album units to date.
