Galway Festival 2025 Day Two betting tips ...Middle East

Sport by : (talksport) -

Day two at Galway centres around the fiercely competitive Colm Quinn BMW Mile, a long-standing highlight of the festival and a race that always proves a serious betting test.

With a deep field of seasoned handicappers, improving types, and a few dark horses, it’s a puzzle punters will relish – especially with the draw and ground likely to play a major role.

Earlier on, the seven-furlong BMW i7 Handicap and a typically tricky juvenile maiden add depth to the card. With showers in the forecast and the ground already on the soft side, market moves could be telling late on. Expect sharp price shifts and opportunities for value hunters throughout the day.

Joe’s best horse racing betting tips for the Galway Festival on Tuesday

5.05 COLM QUINN BMW Novice Hurdle (Listed) 2m1/2f

I think it’s safe to say Willie Mullins holds the key to the opener on Day 2 of the Galway Festival. La Note Verte is likely to be popular having made it 2-2 over hurdles at Roscommon when last seen. She is clearly quite a talented mare but I don’t think I’d have her as short as she is in the market and VICAR STREET looks the better value. He won impressively himself on debut over hurdles at Roscommon and with tons more to come could serve it up to the favourite.

Sysko also represents the yard and while he did well to win at Punchestown the form has taken a few knocks and judging by jockey bookings he might be up against it here. No surprise if Mullins dominates the race though and he could even have a 1-2-3 here.

Bet on VICAR STREET to win at 7/2 with bet365

5.37 Latin Quarter Beginners Chase (4YO plus) 2m2f

I know KING OF KINGSFIELD hasn’t won for a while but this is the easiest race he would have contested for a long time and he does set a clear standard. He has been freshened up too and back over fences should have a great chance to get his head back in front. His second to Down Memory Lane at Navan last year was a very good run and a reproduction of that would see him hard to beat.

My Great Mate is likeable and was progressing well before being highly tried at Navan when last seen. Now sent over fences he could have more in the locker and does look the biggest danger to the selection.

Bet on KING OF KINGSFIELD to win at 13/8 with bet365

6.07 COLM QUINN BMW Irish EBF Fillies Maiden (2YO only) 7f

It is a shame we only have 8 runners heading to post but a lot of potential on show as you’d expect. I do like Camelot filly AMELIA EARHART for Aidan O’Brien. The yard won this last year with Bubbling and this filly showed more than enough on debut to finish third at Leopardstown. She was beaten just over 2 lengths and shaped like she would come on plenty for the outing.

Dubawi filly Thenandnow also ran well first time out to finish second in that race the selection was third in. She was more professional though and I can see the favourite reversing the form here as runners from the O’Brien yard tend to leave their debut runs miles behind. Hard to see anything else getting seriously involved as I think the top pair are probably a fair way clear.

Bet on AMELIA EARHART to win at 11/8 with bet365

6.40 COLM QUINN BMW Mile Handicap (Premier Handicap) 1m1/2f

This Premier Handicap is the punting race of the day for many! I can see NORWALK HAVOC running a massive race for Jessica Harrington. He looked like he needed the run when midfield on return at Leopardstown and this previous Listed winner should be well handicapped now. I have been hearing good things from the yard and under likely positive tactics he could take a lot of catching under Shane Foley.

Slieve Binnian is thriving having won his last 2 starts and you’d be foolish to rule out another big run here despite the handicapper applying more pressure. Orandi also catches my eye returning from a break.

Bet on NORWALK HAVOC each way at 13/2 with bet365

7.15 Caulfield Industrial Irish EBF Maiden (3YO plus) 7f

I’m really not surprised to see the money for COLLECTING COIN as his chance looks glaringly obvious to me. He shaped with clear promise when third over a mile on debut at Cork and then came forward denied just a neck over this trip at the Curragh last time. Given time since with the ground looking perfect I expect him to take a lot of beating.

Monkstown has also shown potential for Aidan O’Brien and that Leopardstown form is working out quite well so in first-time blinkers he could put up the most resistance to the selection.

Bet on COLLECTING COIN to win at 6/4 with bet365

7.50 caulfieldindustrial.com Handicap (4YO plus) 7f

pinned on the fact that he probably needed the run returning from a 301 day absence when fourth at Killarney earlier this month. We know he likes this track having won here last year and he looks off a mark where he can get seriously competitive.

Alpha Capture ran well on return at Leopardstown and then was behind the selection at Killarney but could still run a big race and be the danger. Goal Exceeded is just a 4yo and is another one I could see landing a blow so don’t underestimate.

Bet on IMPOSING SUPREME each way at 15/2 with bet365

8.20 Caulfield Industrial Handicap (4YO plus) 1m1/2f

Another tricky handicap to close out but CASTLEHEATH should be going close for Ciaran Murphy. This 4yo won impressively over hurdles at Punchestown at the start of the year and has likely been put away for this. He finished the season with a good fourth at Limerick and remains capable of better especially back on the Flat here.

Everylittlestep was back to form beaten just half a length at Leopardstown last month so looks one of the main protagonists. Rampage won at Dundalk when last seen and is another one expected to be in the shake up.

Bet on CASTLEHEATH each way at 11/2 with bet365

My top tip for Tuesday’s racing at the Galway Festival 2025

I’m struggling to look past AMELIA EARHART in the maiden for Aidan O’Brien. He won the race last year and has clearly targeted it again with a useful one. Given the price I have doubled it up with COLLECTING COIN who looks one of the best bets on the card. He sets a clear standard and is only going to improve again himself so with that in mind backing them both to win at around 5/1 at the time of writing looks a good value play.

Bet a Win Double on AMELIA EARHART and COLLECTING COIN at 5/1 with bet365
