A man is charged with allegedly shooting and killing his daughter-in-law outside of a suburban wedding over the weekend.
According to Schaumburg police, officers were called to the area near the Holiday Inn Express Hotel at approximately 10:15 p.m. for reports of a shooting.
Just outside the entrance they found 45-year-old Christine Moyers, who had been shot once in the head. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police also located a man who had been subdued by an eyewitness to the shooting. That man, identified as Roland Schmidt, was taken into custody and a weapon was recovered at the scene.
It is believed that Schmidt had followed Moyers outside after the wedding had ended, and confronted her over filing for a divorce from his son. During the confrontation Schmidt opened fire, police allege.
He was charged with first-degree murder, and he remains in custody, according to police.
