DENVER (KDVR) — Aurora police arrested a driver Wednesday who was reportedly involved in a deadly multi-vehicle crash on Sunday that left a 15-year-old girl and a 37-year-old woman dead.
Olvin Lidenis Carcamo-Meza, 18, of Aurora, was booked into the Aurora Municipal Detention Center on Wednesday on investigation of two charges of vehicular homicide. According to court records, official charges have not yet been filed, but Carcamo-Meza is scheduled to appear for a return filing of charges hearing on July 29.
Woman killed in late-night moose crash on C-470 in Highlands RanchAccording to the Aurora Police Department, the three-vehicle crash happened at about 2:45 a.m. on Sunday at the intersection of South Airport Boulevard and East Alameda Avenue. Officers located a 15-year-old girl and a 37-year-old woman at the scene, who were both dead.
The agency said that investigators have determined that Carcamo-Meza was driving north on South Airport Boulevard in a black Audi sedan. Police allege that he failed to stop for a red light and hit a white Hyundai sedan with the two victims inside. The Hyundai was traveling west on Alameda Avenue, according to Aurora police.
A Toyota sedan that was stopped in a turn lane was also hit after the initial collision. The driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries from the crash.
Police said that Carcamo-Meza suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. On Wednesday, following his release from the hospital, he was arrested.
