After a relatively quiet in week featuring teams on the road or off entirely, plenty of Tar Heel action returns to Chapel Hill as the calendar turns from September to October and ushers in fall. Highlights include the football team hosting a sold-out home game Saturday, and the top-ranked women’s soccer program looking to keep the good times rolling.
Monday, Sep. 28
The men’s golf team will be in action in Texas this week at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. The event runs through Tuesday.
Wednesday, Sep. 30
The men’s soccer team continues its Dorrance Field homestand Wednesday evening when it hosts West Florida. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. TV channel: ACC Network Extra
Friday, Oct. 2
After sweeping a west coast doubleheader, field hockey will stay on the road Friday when it visits Louisville at 3 p.m. TV channel: ACC Network Extra
The No. 1 women’s soccer team will put its seven-match winning streak on the line Friday by hosting No. 15 Notre Dame at Dorrance Field. Kickoff between the two ACC foes is set for 6 p.m. TV channel: ACC Network
The volleyball team is back in action Friday after a 2-0 weekend, and the Tar Heels will host Clemson at Carmichael Arena at 7 p.m. TV channel: ACC Network Extra
Saturday, Oct. 3
UNC football returns to national television Saturday by hosting No. 3 Notre Dame at Kenan Stadium. The Tar Heels have not beaten the Fighting Irish since 2008. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. TV channel: ESPN. Radio broadcast available on 97.9 The Hill.
From football to futbol, the men’s soccer team will hit the road and head to Massachusetts Saturday to face Boston College at 3 p.m. TV channel: ACC Network Extra
Sunday, Oct. 4
The Notre Dame theme rolls on as the men’s golf team heads to Indiana for the Fighting Irish Classic, which runs through Tuesday.
Finally, volleyball wraps up the weekend at Carmichael Arena against Georgia Tech at 1:30 p.m. TV channel: ACC Network.
