A Chicago woman met her biological father for the first time Thursday, thanks to some help from genetic testing.
“I am so excited. I feel so blessed for this day. It is a miracle,” Cherise Irving said.
Irving met with her father at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, and said the meeting felt like something in her “spirit has awakened.”
Irving began working on her family tree a few years ago, which included an account on ancestry.com.
Irving hadn’t checked the account for a while when her daughter logged on in March and saw a match for father for a man they had never seen before.
Irving’s father died in 2015, and her mom passed away two years later. She said neither parent told her anything about her biological father, who now lives in Arizona.
said Rev. William Chico Higgins. “This is the greatest day. God has truly blessed me to see my daughter. I might not have long but I am going to catch up with the little bit we have left,” Rev. William Chico Higgins said.
Irving and her children said their family puzzle finally feels complete.
