GLENDALE — Marvin Harrison Jr. was the talk of the town for his noticeable transformation this offseason.
Adding 11 pounds to his 6-foot-4 frame, Harrison now sits at 220 pounds with training camp kicking off Wednesday.
He’s far from losing a step, too.

“I feel great. I feel the same. I feel a little more faster, powerful, stronger. I’m ready to showcase it,” Harrison said Wednesday.

But while Harrison’s bulking up has taken centerstage this offseason, it’s not the only big change to the wide receiver’s makeup.
With his rookie season and an NFL offseason dedicated to improving his craft both mentally and physically raising the water levels of experience, Harrison enters Year 2 in a different headspace than he did as a rookie.
“I would say a lot more relaxed. Not as nervous and fidgety,” Harrison said. “Just a lot more relaxed, calm. It’s allowed me to go out there and just be free a little bit.”

Getting more out of Harrison could do wonders in taking Arizona’s offense to another tier after showing some promise in 2024.
While the wideout reeled in eight touchdowns (tied for 13th in the NFL), his 62 receptions and 885 receiving yards didn’t live up to his first-round billing, especially when looking at what Brian Thomas Jr., Malik Nabers and Ladd McConkey did as rookies.
“I’m not going to lie and say I don’t pay attention to it,” Harrison said of his rookie counterparts.
Part of the problem for Harrison last year was getting on the same page with quarterback Kyler Murray on a consistent basis.
It really wasn’t until midseason when the two felt like their chemistry was taking that next step thanks to better communication and familiarity.
And for the Cardinals to be in that top 10 offense discussion this season and beyond, Harrison’s rookie stats must be the absolute floor moving forward.
Because if he can truly be a weekly threat to rack up 100 yards and find the end zone, the rest of the offense is going to open up that much more.
Not only would potential double teams provide mismatches for Murray to exploit in the passing game, Arizona’s run game led by James Conner would benefit from defenses having to keep an extra eye on Harrison.
Remember, running the rock is critical to the unit’s success under offensive coordinator Drew Petzing.
Only time will tell if Harrison and Murray have truly taken that next step as a formidable duo.
But from the early returns, things are trending that way for the second-year wide receiver and his signal caller.
“For him to have eight touchdowns and feel like he didn’t even scratch the surface, I think that’s saying something.”

“There’s no there’s no reason why he can’t become a Hall of Fame guy or achieve everything that he wants to achieve,” Murray told the Cardinals Corner podcast in April.
“For him to have eight touchdowns and feel like he didn’t even scratch the surface, I think that’s saying something. Me and him have to be better and we will be better.”
Marvin Harrison Jr.’s biggest challenge this offseason
Getting after it in the offseason can be monotonous with no games on the schedule until September.
Waking up and hitting the gym wasn’t the worst of it for Harrison. Instead, it was getting to the breakfast table.
“I’d say with anything, the first couple weeks kinda takes some getting used to it,” Harrison said. “I’m not a big breakfast guy but I gotta eat my breakfast now and have a big breakfast. That’s probably the biggest challenge, waking up not hungry but still kind of making sure you’re feeding yourself.
As for why Harrison chose the 220-pound mark?
“Didn’t want to put too much on,” the wideout added. “It was kind of a natural thing as well and how much your body can develop and grow. I felt that was kind of a good number for me.”
He’s growing up right in front of our very eyes.
