DENVER (KDVR) — A high flood threat alert has been issued for a large part of the Colorado Front Range until Wednesday night.

The alert was issued by the Colorado Water Conservation Board at 10:40 a.m. FOX31's Travis Michels reported that storm chances are expected to arrive in the area this afternoon and may linger into the evening hours.

Some counties in the Front Range include parts of Larimer, Boulder and Jefferson.

The alert stated that expected rainfall could be anywhere from two inches to three inches for around one to three hours and that primetime is 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The alert stated that the storms may cause debris slides, mudflows and excessive runoff. The excessive runoff could also cause ponding in low-lying areas, road flooding and rises on local creeks and streams.

A moderate threat has been issued for Colorado's adjacent eastern plains.
