Thirty-two competitors from across the globe will be stepping up to the oche in the hope of claiming the £200,000 top prize on offer.

This is the 32nd year of the World Matchplay, sponsored by gambling firm Betfred, and will be followed by the Women’s World Matchplay at the end of July.

When is the 2025 World Matchplay Darts and what is the format?

Matches have to be won by two clear legs, and as the tournament progresses, the number of legs increases.

The format for the event is as follows:

First round – best of 19 legs Second round – best of 21 legs Quarter-finals – best of 31 legs Semi-finals – best of 33 legs Final – best of 35 legs

How much prize money is on offer?

Players will be gunning for the top prize of £200,000 and the Phil Taylor Trophy in this tournament.

Semi-finalists get £50,000 each and quarter-finalists £30,000. Meanwhile, those who drop out after the second round receive £15,000 and first rounders £10,000.
