Trump Claims Coca-Cola Will Use Cane Sugar in U.S.-Made Coke

President Trump stated that he has spoken to the Coca-Cola Company about using “REAL cane sugar in Coke” in the United States and that the company had agreed to begin adding it. A representative for Coca-Cola will not comment on whether it had agreed to do so.

“We’re grateful for President Trump’s interest in our iconic Coca-Cola brand,” Representative Michelle Agnew said in a statement. “We’ll be sharing more information soon about new and innovative additions to our Coca-Cola lineup.”

Coca-Cola had committed to switching entirely to sugar instead of using corn syrup—a practice the company adopted in 1980 to offset rising sugar costs by blending the two—Ms. Agnew did not provide a response.
