Epstein scandal has prompted various political figures to reassess their strategies in light of public perception and media scrutiny. Notably, former President Donald Trump has adopted a tactic that involves redirecting attention toward the Democratic Party by accusing them of complicity or hypocrisy regarding issues related to Epstein. This strategy serves multiple purposes: it not only attempts to deflect criticism from himself but also seeks to galvanize his base by framing Democrats as morally compromised.
In May, when he received a mix of good and bad economic news, Mr. Trump said the “good parts” of the economy were his, while the “bad parts” belonged to the previous administration.
Trump administration’s refusal to release portions of the files related to an investigation of the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Mr. Trump is once again returning to an old playbook: Blame the Democrats.
In recent days, Mr. Trump has tried to rewrite the history of both the Epstein files and the outrage over them. In his telling, no longer are the files part of an alleged coverup, but instead they are a “hoax” and smear campaign by Democrats against his administration.
Trump said the Epstein controversy — roiling now for more than a week after his Justice Department announced in a memo that there was no Epstein “client list” and it didn’t plan to release any more documents in the investigation — was distracting from the successes of his presidency.
Michael Flynn have been pushing for the the list that they believe is in the hands of the Justice Department of Epstein's clients , who they allege, without evidence, are powerful liberals. Flynn, one of Trump's staunchest supporters who has pushed QAnon conspiracies related to sex trafficking, went on X Wednesday imploring Trump to reconsider his claim that the Epstein controversy was a "hoax," contending that the allegations against Epstein were too serious to ignore.
This approach capitalizes on the polarized nature of contemporary American politics, where accusations can elicit strong emotional responses among supporters and detractors alike. By positioning the Democrats as adversaries embroiled in scandal, Trump aims to reinforce his narrative of being an outsider fighting against a corrupt establishment. Furthermore, this tactic may serve as a distraction from ongoing legal challenges he faces, thereby shifting focus away from his own vulnerabilities.
