Murdoch died without revealing the location of Mr Falconio’s body, despite numerous attempts from local police to have him reveal the information.
Murdoch flagged them down, telling them there was something wrong with his car. As Mr Falconio got out to investigate, he was killed, and Murdoch tied Ms Lees’ hands with zip ties and put a bag over her head.
The case became an international media frenzy, and initially Ms Lees was suspected of killing her boyfriend by many members of the Australian public.
Only last month, police in the Northern Territory increased the cash reward to $500,000 for information which could lead to the discovery of Mr Falconio’s body.
“You just never know how beneficial that information that you may hold, may be — essentially, you just don’t know what you know.”
