Dana White has shared that Jon Jones is his dream headliner for the UFC White House card after reversing his decision to retire.

Just two weeks after Jones retired from the sport and vacated his UFC heavyweight title, it appears he will now return to the octagon.

Talks over a potential return to the cage began after the US President, Donald Trump, announced: “We’re going to have a UFC fight on the grounds of the White House

“We have a lot of land there. Dana’s going to do it.”

The event would make up part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations next July.

White disclosed that a heavyweight clash between Tom Aspinall and Jones would be his dream main event, should negotiations get over the line for the White House to host the UFC.

The UFC CEO vowed to make it “the baddest card of all time” on the Full Send Podcast.

Jones took to X, formerly Twitter, to speak about making a retirement U-turn.

Replying to a fan, Jones explained that he is open to a comeback fight at the iconic US location: “Who knows what the future holds, but the moment I heard Donald Trump‘s announcement, I started training again.”

The recently unveiled plans to stage a UFC event at The White House have prompted a lot of speculation on who would be on the card.

The 37-year-old said: “For me it’s about the opportunity to represent America at the White House.

“I don’t care who I fight that night. I found my reason why, that’s what I needed, something that was more than money.”

“Donald made his announcement on the morning of the Fourth of July, I called the UFC headquarters that very same afternoon,” Jones said.

Jones was in intense negotiations over a showdown with Aspinall for several months.

But talks collapsed largely thanks to his huge financial demands, and Aspinall was upgraded to full champion.

Jones had made it clear that he preferred alternative options including showdowns with Francis Ngannou and Alex Pereira.

But it appears now a headline act between the pair could be on, with the tantalising opportunity to make history in the gardens of Washington’s famous White House.

While he remains a top contender for the main event, other names that may feature on the card include Conor McGregor.

McGregor has been out of action since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

Although he recently stated that he plans to make his long-anticipated comeback at the UFC’s upcoming White House event.

During a press conference for a BKFC event, McGregor expressed his intentions clearly: “It’s looking like I’m headed to the Oval Office again,” he said. “That’s where I’m headed next.”

No official announcements have been made as of yet, but the card will undoubtedly feature the biggest names in the sport.
