Wheat Ridge police officer shoots person near I-70 ...Middle East

An officer with the Wheat Ridge Police Department shot a person near West 32nd Avenue and Youngfield Street on Thursday afternoon, agency officials said.

The severity of the person’s injuries and other details about the incident were not immediately available, spokesperson Alex Rose said.

The officer who shot the person was not injured in the confrontation.

Wheat Ridge police referred to the person who was shot as a suspect, but did not say what they were suspected of.

Police are asking people to avoid the area, which is near Interstate 70.
