Rishabh Pant said that the only thing harder than batting against the pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is keeping wickets to him.
Bumrah featured in the first Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley in Leeds, which India lost by 5 wickets, and he was rested for the second game at Edgbaston in Birmingham, where the visitors clinched a 336-run victory.
Ahead of the Lord's Test, Rishabh Pant attended a press conference, where he was asked what makes Bumrah so special. He replied by stating that the pacer is quite smart and added that keeping wickets to him is a nightmare.
Bumrah's unorthodox action has been a key reason behind his success as a bowler, as the batters find it difficult to read him. Also, things have been tough for Pant behind the stumps because the balls move significantly after passing the bat in English conditions.
Discussions are still going on - Rishabh Pant on India XI
In the previous Test match at Edgbaston in Birmingham, India went with three pacers - Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna - and two spin-bowling all-rounders - Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja.
"Discussions are still going on. But we will get to know by tomorrow (Thursday). Sometimes the wicket changes colour, the moisture will become less also. We have to see the wicket and take a call on how the wicket is doing."
I try to have a very clear mindset - Rishabh Pant
Talking about his batting, Rishabh Pant said that having a clear mindset has been beneficial for him. He stated:
"What the other team is thinking, yes, I do have an idea of what they want me to do... You have to make your own plans and just play the game."
