(PINPOINT WEATHER) -- After a scorcher of a Tuesday, we kick off our Wednesday warm and quiet ahead of afternoon storms.
Skies are partly cloudy this Wednesday morning with temperatures settled in the low to mid-70s around the Queen City. Winds are light out of the south-southwest between 3 and 8 miles per hour.

Look for mostly sunny skies to dominate ahead of clouds building as we cross into the afternoon. We’re in for another hot day as highs peak in the low 90s, as a Heat Index of 97 takes hold. We can even feel like 101 degrees in some spots through the day on Wednesday.
Be sure to keep an eye out for pop-up showers and thunderstorms. Wednesday, with some storms having the potential to pack a punch in the form of damaging winds and heavy rain. This can lead to scattered downed tree limbs and spotty power outages.
Localized flooding also can’t be ruled out on Wednesday, with a few pockets of torrential rain possible. Wednesday will see a Slight Risk for Severe Weather, which is level two out of five. We’ll hold on to the Slight Risk through Thursday with another round of afternoon storms likely.
Overnight lows will dip into the low 70s with 90s on deck for Thursday. Hot & humid conditions with afternoon pop-up storms will linger through the end of the work week.
This weekend will sit in the low to mid-90s with spotty storm chances possible Saturday & Sunday. 90s will linger but skies dry out as we head into early next week.
