Stan Kroenke has it all.
The man is living every sports fan’s dream.
Kroenke is one of the most successful owners in all of sportsGettyKroenke is the owner and chairman of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment which is the world’s most valuable and richest sports empire.
It is valued at $21.17 billion, according to CNBC.
Kroenke’s portfolio includes teams across the NFL, NBA, NHL, and Premier League, such as the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and Arsenal.
It is an embarrassment of riches that also includes many championships.
There was an unprecedented 18-month stretch from February 2022 to June 2023 that included the Rams winning Super Bowl LVI, the Avalanche winning the Stanley Cup and the Nuggets winning the NBA Finals.
In his portfolio, he also owns a successful National Lacrosse League team, the Colorado Mammoth, and an MLS team, the Colorado Rapids.
In total, Kroenke’s teams have won two Super Bowls, two Stanley Cups, one NBA championship, one MLS Cup, two NLL titles, and seven English women’s football championships with Arsenal WFC, under his ownership.
The only thing missing from his trophy case is a Premier League title with Arsenal.
The second-richest sports empire behind Kroenke is none other than Jerry Jones and his family.
The Jones family has a valuation of $15.53bn, with most of that worth tied to the Dallas Cowboys.
Kroenke and the Nuggets won their first title in franchise history in 2023Getty Not only does Kroenke own the richest empire, he’s also one of the most winningGettyIt pays to be an owner of a professional sports team; just ask Jeanie Buss.
She recently sold the Los Angeles Lakers for a record-breaking $10bn to Mark Walter.
It was the highest ever for a U.S. professional sports franchise, blowing away the $6.1bn that the Boston Celtics sold for earlier this year.
It is not a coincidence that Kroenke’s empire ranks the highest, as he is also one of the most winning owners in all of sports.
Winning tends to lead to good business, ticket and merchandise sales, fan interest, media rights deals, and so on.
And by all accounts, he is an exceptional owner (just don’t ask the people of St. Louis or certain Arsenal fans).
Kroenke won his second Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022GettyThe Kroenkes are known to have patience when it comes to coaches, general managers, and the overall building and construction of a roster, no matter the sport.
Josh Kroenke, vice chairman and Stan’s son, has said as much.
“It’s important to have patience,” Kroenke told the Los Angeles Times last year.
“As much as we want ready-made players that are ready to go win a championship, winning at the highest process is not linear. You’ve got to kind of climb like this [tracing an imaginary mountain range with his finger].”
Their employees have seen it in action, including Kevin Demoff, who was recently promoted from chief operating officer of the Rams to president of KSE’s North American teams and media.
“When these teams have gotten close and fallen short, [the Kroenkes] haven’t made drastic managerial or coaching changes,” Demoff said.
“Instead, they’ve empowered those front offices to go get a significant piece to put them over the top, and it has usually worked.”
A lot of sports owners only care about the bottom line, and that’s the money they get back into their pockets.
And while the Kroenke family certainly cares about the financial and business side of it all, it’s clear they are firmly invested in winning and building successful cultures for all of their teams.
