Hip-Hop Legend Celebrates 56th Birthday in Unexpectedly Groovy Way ...Saudi Arabia

News by : (Parade) -

The man born Robert Fitzgerald Diggs turned 56 on July 5, and of course, he celebrated with music. As the de facto leader of the hip-hop collective, RZA oversaw the production of their debut, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), and the first wave of the members' solo albums. His style of reworking soul samples and incorporating cinematic elements into his beats has made him one of the most influential producers of all time.

RZA attended the band's July 5 show at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado. According to Billboard, drummer Jon Fishman shouted, "Happy Birthday, Rizz!" during a cover of the Talking Heads' "Crosseyed and Painless." Guitarist and vocalist Trey Anastasio added a bit of the "Happy Birthday" song into the performance before adding "Wu-Tang Forever!"

"Ruler Zig-Zag-Zig Allah jam is fatal/ Quick to stick my Wu-Tang Jedi guitar right through your navel. Happy birthday Bobby Diggs! #WuTang4ever," wrote Trey.

RZA's festivities included a crowd shouting "Happy Birthday," a party with a Wu-Tang-themed cake, and more. "Thanks to all the family, good companions, and fans for all of the Born Day blessings," remarked RZA.
