Two men have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred three months ago in El Cajon, authorities announced Monday.
Officers responded to reports of gunshots around 9:45 p.m. on April 13 in a parking lot in the 1100 block of East Madison Ave., according to the El Cajon Police Department.
There, they found 46-year-old Deandra Bryant suffering from gunshot wounds. She was transported to a hospital but died shortly after arrival, police said.
Detectives determined that Bryant had been involved in an altercation with the two men. One of the suspects shot Bryant, then both men fled the scene, the department said.
The first suspect was identified as 22-year-old Frankie England, and the second as 35-year-old Dontel Wallace, who had prior felony convictions.
England was arrested last Tuesday, and Wallace, originally taken into custody on unrelated firearms charges, was arrested on June 11, police said. Wallace’s charges have been upgraded to murder since his arrest.
The motive behind the shooting remained under investigation.
Authorities encouraged anyone with information to call the El Cajon Police Department at (619) 579-3311 or contact San Diego Crime Stoppers online or at (888) 580-8477.
