Cooper, 50, told Vogue that he, Hathaway, 42, and her husband, Adam Shulman, grew to be close after bonding as parents. Hathaway and Shulman, 44, share sons Jonathan, 9, and Jack, 5, while Cooper is the father to daughter Lea De Seine, 8, with ex Irina Shayk.
"We started hanging out as parents, having dance parties with children in my kitchen, and I fell in love with both of them,” he shared.
In addition to praising Hathaway's character, he added that she and Shulman set an example for other couples. Cooper said that the pair, who wed in 2012, are "an emblem for that kind of commitment" and that they "enrich" each other as partners.
Hathaway previously showed up for Cooper when she attended the National Board of Review Gala in New York City in January 2024 to present the Icon Award to the A Star Is Born actor.
"Bradley and I became friends during the pandemic when he invited my family over for pizza. Which I have to mention he made himself," she said during his introduction. "As I watched Bradley make pizza for like 20 adults and countless clamoring children, never breaking his rhythm or focus or his connection to whomever he was speaking with, I was struck by how rare a creature Bradley is."
