OAKLAND — A South Lake Tahoe resident has been charged with sexually abusing a teen girl he met through a chat app designed to link strangers online, court records show.

He was released from jail after posting $100,000 bail, according to court records.
Silver has pleaded not guilty.
Police say Silver came to the Bay Area and met the girl in Oakland near a grocery market, then allegedly sexually abused her in his car. During their online chats, before meeting in person, the girl allegedly told Silver she was underage.
The girl told police “she was tense throughout the entire experience and did not want to flee as she was afraid of what Silver may do to her,” but that she came up with a “ruse” to get out of there and reported what happened to police the same day, according to court records. Silver was arrested two days later and charged on June 26, court records show.
Silver’s next court date, a preliminary hearing where a judge will review the prosecution’s evidence and decide if there’s enough to uphold the charges, has been tentatively set for Aug. 11.
