Syria Sets Entry Fees for Private Vehicles Crossing via Turkey ...Syria

News by : (ُEnabbaladi) -

The General Authority for Land and Sea Border Crossings in Syria has set new fees for private vehicles entering the country through all land crossings with Turkey.

According to a statement obtained by Enab Baladi on Saturday, July 5, the following will apply:“In line with procedures applied at all border crossings of the Syrian Arab Republic, a system of collecting fees for the entry of private vehicles into Syrian territory through land border crossings with Turkey will be enforced starting today.”

The entry fee for a private vehicle is set at $50 USD for one month, and $200 USD for three months.

According to the statement, it is possible to extend the vehicle’s stay in Syria before the expiration of the allowed period by visiting the border crossing through which the traveler entered, provided the vehicle owner remains present in Syrian territory.

If the vehicle overstays without an official extension, a penalty of $110 USD per week of delay will be imposed, the statement clarified.

Crossing Through Turkey

On July 4, the General Authority announced a set of conditions under which Syrian expatriates (excluding those residing in Turkey) are allowed to enter Syrian territory via Turkey for transit purposes only, exclusively through the Bab al-Hawa border crossing, starting from July 10.

On Saturday, July 5, the Authority confirmed that all travelers may enter with their private vehicles through this crossing in accordance with the new fee structure, and must abide by the allowed period of stay in Syria.

This mechanism applies to Syrians residing around the world (except Turkey) who hold foreign nationality or valid residency and wish to come to Syria via Turkish territory.

Adult Syrians who hold a foreign nationality may also register and enter even if their Syrian passport has expired, according to the statement.

Children of Syrian expatriates under the age of 18, who hold foreign nationality and do not possess a Syrian passport, are allowed to enter under this mechanism using their foreign passport.

However, Syrians who entered Syria via Jordan, Lebanon, or Damascus International Airport are not eligible for this crossing mechanism and must instead apply for crossing permission through the Turkish Embassy in Damascus or the Turkish Consulate in Aleppo, according to the statement.
