Alabama is not slowing its roll after a big-time June push on the recruiting trail. Now, Kalen DeBoer and his staff are riding that wave to even bigger pieces for the 2026 recruiting class.
On Saturday, Alabama pulled in yet another 5-star commitment for the cycle, giving the Crimson Tide a quartet of 5-star prospects thus far. This time, it is Jireh Edwards, a 5-star safety out of Maryland.
Edwards’ group of finalists came down to Georgia, Texas A&M, Florida, Auburn and Oregon before eventually committing to the Crimson Tide live on 247 Sports:

— 247Sports (@247Sports) July 5, 2025Edwards is listed at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds out of St. Frances Academy in Maryland. According to the 247 Sports Composite, he’s the 23rd overall player in the country and the No. 2 safety in the country.
The addition of Edwards now gives Alabama pledges from the No. 1 CB, the No. 2 WR, the No. 2 safety and the No. 2 edge prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. Alabama’s 4 5-star commitments are the most in the country, with Oregon at 3 such players and Ohio State and Texas with 2 each.
For now, Alabama has the 6th overall recruiting class in the country with 19 hard commitments, but the potential to rise even higher is there. The average rating for Alabama’s recruiting class checks in at 3rd nationally as things stand on July 5.
