Akash Deep bamboozled the England batters with his stunning deliveries on Day 4 of the Test match at Edgbaston in Birmingham and pulled off aggressive celebrations.
The Bengal pacer walked into the Indian team for the Edgbaston Test as a replacement for the pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the game.
Speaking after the end of the day's play to reporters, Akash said that he was unsure of his selection in the playing XI in the third match at Lord's despite his stellar performance in the first innings.
First, he dismissed Ben Duckett on the third ball of the fifth over. He bowled a sharp nipbacker on the back of a length outside off stump, and Ben Duckett inside-edged the ball into the stumps, getting out for 25. Akash was pumped up after getting the wicket and celebrated aggressively.
He went wide on the crease to create a greater angle and bowled a fuller length ball to Root, who tried to play it towards the onside, but missed completely and saw his stumps getting destroyed.
