Just filling out a simple form could secure a payment, but only if you move before July 7.

The payout comes from a class action lawsuit against The General Automobile Insurance Services.

The insurance provider is accused of wrongly denying coverage to policyholders after changes were made to their auto policies.

Drivers who had uninsured or underinsured motorists coverage and later added a new vehicle to their plan may be owed money.

According to the lawsuit, General Automobile Insurance Services failed to get new waivers from customers after vehicles were added by endorsement.

Because of that, when policyholders filed injury claims after an accident, they were denied coverage they say they were entitled to.

The company hasn’t admitted to any wrongdoing but has agreed to settle the case to avoid trial.

The exact payout amount hasn’t been made public, and individual settlement amounts will vary.

Eligible claimants will be offered a cash payment depending on the value of their uninsured motorist or underinsured motorist coverage.

Anyone who disagrees with the settlement amount offered can request an independent review by a court-appointed Special Master.

For instance, if a driver had $50,000 unstacked coverage and stacking would have raised it to $100,000, they might get the full higher amount.

Only policyholders who made a claim and were denied after adding a vehicle by endorsement are included.

The policy change must have come through endorsement, not through “Additional Acquired Auto” or “Newly Acquired Vehicle” clauses.

Claimants also need to show they were injured in a crash and had their claim denied because of the stacking waiver issue.

To qualify, you’ll also need to provide documentation like accident details and medical treatment records.
