Real Madrid are going all out to win the Club World Cup and their players have a million reasons to make sure they win it.

One million euros to be precise – a club-record bonus.

They face Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals of the competition on Saturday night.

It was thought some teams would see the Club World Cup as a hindrance after a long domestic season.

Los Blancos, though, have gone into the revamped tournament full-bloodedly.

After a tricky 1-1 draw with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, they proceeded to beat Mexican club Pachuca 3-1 and Red Bull Salzburg 3-0 in the group stage.

They then dispatched a more familiar foe in Juventus with Gonzalo Garcia heading home in a 1-0 win.

Now it’s another European giant next with Dortmund standing in the way of a semi-final tie against either Bayern Munich or Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Bellingham and new teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold, like many players at the tournament, may have had reservations about the extra exertions.

However, according to AS, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez made it extremely clear about how important the Club World Cup is to them.

So much so, Perez has only missed their games with Pachuca and Salzburg so far.

Ahead of their tournament opener against Al Hilal, Perez went on record to express his love for the revamp.

“We’ve finally achieved something we’ve been fighting for for a long time,” he said. “The most global sport in the world is football.

“The fact that technology has helped us hold this beautiful competition is something we’re grateful for, and the fact that it’s also free means that children all over the world can now watch Real Madrid.”

Their participation so far has already earned Real Madrid a pretty penny.

Reaching the quarter-finals sees them bank $13.125m/£9.6m on top of their paycheque for participation.

That makes it an estimated pay day, so far, of €55.16m/£47.6m, claim AS.

In the end, the winner will get a total of $40m/£30m – so it’s no wonder the players will likely get handed a €1m bonus, which is reportedly a club record.
