Highest Fees for Iranians: Syria Sets Entry Visa Fees for Foreigners ...Syria

News by : (ُEnabbaladi) -

Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad al-Shibani, has issued a decision setting new visa and transit fees for citizens of Arab and foreign countries, effective Sunday, July 6.

According to the decision, which Enab Baladi obtained a copy of and was issued on July 1, the fees must be paid in US dollars or their equivalent, based on the official exchange rates set by the Central Bank of Syria. When calculating the equivalent amount in local currency, decimal values are rounded up to the nearest currency unit.

Visa fees must be paid at border crossings or airports in Syria, and the decision will be enforced starting July 6.

The decision divides countries into 11 groups for determining entry fees. Group 1 includes Lebanon, Jordan, Malaysia, and Mauritania, whose citizens are exempt from visa fees. Additionally, Serbian nationals can enter Syria free of charge.

For citizens from the remaining ten groups, visa fees vary depending on the type of entry (standard entry or transit only), the duration of stay (one month, three months, or six months), and the number of permitted entries.

In Group 3, fees start at $25 USD for a one-month single-entry visa. The fees increase with longer validity periods and multiple-entry options.

The visa fees rise by an average of $25 USD per group.

The highest visa fee was set for Iranian nationals at $400 USD for a one-month single-entry visa.

Visa fees for most European countries were set at $75 USD, while US citizens must pay $200 USD for entry.

For countries not mentioned in the official list, the visa fee is set at $50 USD for a one-month, single-entry visa.

Despite the ongoing situation in Syria, the country remains a destination for many Arab and foreign nationals, for purposes ranging from post-war “dark tourism” to investment and market exploration.

As of the time this report was published, there are no official statistics on the number of foreigners who have entered Syria this year.
