According to an article published by Deadlineon Wednesday, a Scrubs reboot has been in the works and is moving towards a pilot order for ABC. Originally aired from 2001 to 2010, Scrubs followed a new group of medical students who arrived to learn the ropes at Sacred Heart Hospital, where John “J.D.” Dorian, Christopher Turk, Bob Kelso, and acerbic Dr Perry Cox are their instructors.
Securing the cast and working under the obligations of his exclusive deal with Warner Bros TV, the show's developer and executive producer Bill Lawrence has been trying to put together this reboot for months. So far, Zach Braff, who played J.D, is the only original cast member locked in. Negotiations with the rest of the key original cast members are wrapping up, which would finally get the project a pilot green light.
Though a storyline or plot has not been confirmed, the end of eighth season of Scrubs showed J.D leaving Sacred Heart Hospital for a new job to be closer to his son. But, the reboot is expected to focus on the characters of J.D. and Turk, 15 years later.
As of now, there is no premiere date yet.
