Tutor Perini’s scope of work involves building a seven-floor steel-clad storage and staging facility located between 9th and 10th Avenues and between West 39th and West 40th Streets.
The building will store 350 buses and act as a temporary bus terminal during planned construction of a new main bus terminal.
Tutor Perini will also build a ramp structure which will encompass a whole block by 10th and 11th Avenues and 39th and 40th Streets, which will allow allow buses to transfer between different levels of a replacement facility and to the Lincoln Tunnel.
Gary Smalley, Tutor Perini’s president, said: “We are excited to be a part of this transformational project, which will significantly improve the quality of life and regional transportation for commuters throughout the New York City metropolitan region.”
Construction is due to begin in the autumn of 2025 and due to be completed in the autumn of 2028.
