The newest Pittsburgh Steeler will fit right in.

Jalen Ramsey, now a member of the Steelers after being traded from the Miami Dolphins, is already accustomed to mixing it up with fellow AFC North rivals.

Just ask the Cincinnati Bengals and their fans.

Back in 2017, Ramsey was entering the prime of his career and turning into one of the league’s best shutdown cornerbacks.

He talked the talk and walked the walk.

So much so, that he got one of the NFL‘s quietest, most cool-headed, soft-spoken superstars to seemingly snap.

A.J. Green, star wideout for the Bengals, lost his cool when going up against Ramsey back on November 5 in 2017.

Both players were ejected from the game when Ramsey shoved Green to the ground, who retaliated by placing Ramsey in a chokehold before taking him down to the ground.

Green repeatedly hit Ramsey in the helmet.

The two teams jumped off their sidelines and came to defend each of their players, resulting in a massive brawl.

Nobody was injured, and it luckily deescalated pretty quickly, but it was a stunning scene.

It was the most out of character moment by Green, in an otherwise upstanding and borderline Hall of Fame 12-year career.

The All-Pro wideout was fined $42,000, while Ramsey did not receive a fine for the incident.

After the game, Green responded with nothing but class and accountability, which came as no surprise.

“I did something I wasn’t supposed to do. Now I have to accept the consequences. That’s fine,” Green said, via the Bengals’ official website.

“I accept whatever punishment that was handed down to me because I put myself in position where I hurt my team and hurt myself.

“I apologized to the people I hurt. My family. That’s not who I am, I can’t go out there and black out like that. That was not professional.

“That’s not who I am. That’s no reflection on my family. That’s not who we are. I apologize for that.”

It was unclear what Ramsey did or said that provoked such a reaction from Green, while many speculated that the cornerback got personal with Green, accusations in which Ramsey denied after the game.

“I was out there just spitting facts to him and he got mad,” Ramsey said in his first public comments since the brawl.

“I lock receivers down physically and then mentally. I get in their mind and get under their skin. I talk my talk whatever I’m going to say.

“It’s rumors out there that I said some deep personal stuff, but that’s not true. I get out there and do my thing and talk…. but I don’t talk about nobody’s wife, nobody’s kids or family. I don’t do that.”

Green later opened up a little bit more on the incident, a year later on Adam Schefter’s podcast.

“Everywhere I go. Any signings or appearances I have, somebody always has that picture for me to sign,” Green said.

“Just got in a heated moment, talking back and forth. Temperature just got hot and it took off from there…

“It’s nothing off the field. No real beef off the field. Just two competitors going at it at a high level. That’s it.”

There seems to be no bad blood between the two, and Green has since retired, while Ramsey has found a new home in Pittsburgh.
