Jake Paul’s contest with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has delivered the highest boxing gate in the history of the Honda Center.

Paul has made a real splash in the box office market throughout his 13-fight boxing career to date.

And his latest contest with former world champion and Canelo Alvarez foe Chavez Jr will be no different this weekend.

The pair will become the latest to do battle in front of thousands of watching eyes at 18,000 capacity in Anaheim, California.

Ticket sales have been extremely healthy according to organisers.

And Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions [MVP] have confirmed that the event will surpass the highest boxing gate at the venue.

The event has surpassed the gate revenue generated by previous huge names that have stepped into the ring at the Honda Center.

It overtakes Canelo Alvarez who famously beat Matthew Hatton in the venue in 2011, as well as Ryan Garcia’s clash with Francisco Fonseca in 2020.

Nate Diaz and Jorge Masivdal’s crossover boxing clash in July last year will also be no match for Paul’s upcoming tilt.

Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of MVP, remarked: “Breaking the all-time boxing gate record at Honda Center is another milestone in Jake Paul’s unprecedented run as a headliner and further proof that he is one of the most valuable draws in combat sport.

“This venue has seen headliners like Canelo Álvarez, Ryan Garcia Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal—fighters with deep amateur pedigrees and years of professional experience.

“Now, in just his 13th pro fight with no amateur background, Jake is not only headlining but generating three to four times the ticket revenue of past marquee events.

“He’s not just breaking records, he’s changing the business of boxing.”

Paul is no stranger to entering the record books, with his most recent victory against heavyweight legend Mike Tyson last November breaking many.

The event generated a huge $18,117,072 and became the highest combat sports gate outside of Las Vegas in US boxing history.

Paul’s fights with Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, Andre August and Ryan Bourland also all broke the all-time gate records at their respective venues.

This could be considered the biggest test of Paul’s career so far, given Chavez Jr has the most experience of all of his opponents.

Victory could see him look to tee up bigger and better opponents with the likes of Anthony Joshua and Gervonta Davis linked.

He has even held talks over a staggering world title shot against Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez, who will face Yuriel Dorticos on the undercard.

And ‘El Gallo’ is confident he will take another positive step towards his goals.

He added: “He’s a great fighter. I like big names, legendary names, and he’s on my path to a world championship.

“This is a tough test, a very tough test, but I’m here to challenge myself and do big things in this sport and then make a title run after I beat him on Saturday.”
