Thunderstorms to hit UK ahead of 31°C weekend heatwave ...Middle East

Britain is braced for another heatwave as temperatures of 29°C are forecast on Saturday, 30°C on Sunday and a high of 31°C on Monday, according to the Met Office.

Wednesday is set to be “humid and very warm” in the south of England, bringing a threat of “heavy, possibly thundery showers” later in the day, according to the national weather service.

He continued: “Elsewhere through Thursday, rain will move eastwards across the UK, clearing to showers, with some sunny spells breaking through at times.

Mr Gundersen said that many parts of the UK will stay dry on Saturday. A patch of rain will move south east and ease.

Highs of 30°C are expected in parts of the south over the weekend, which would make the UK hotter than Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, according to forecasters.

He said a short-lived localised heatwave is possible in the South East of England as the mercury goes up this weekend.

Those attending Glastonbury Festival can expect a mixed bag of sunshine and rain this week.

It comes after a heatwave last week that hit many parts of England last week and a few areas in Wales.

Mr Claydon said: “When we had the warm spell last week it was much more widespread, we’re not likely to see that.”

June’s average daytime temperatures have been 19.2°C, slightly above the average of 17.68°C, according to the Met Office.
