Ray Romano Reveals Heartbreaking Reason There Won't Be an 'Everybody Loves Raymond' Reboot ...Saudi Arabia

News by : (Parade) -

Entertainment Weekly reported that Ray Romano and Patricia Heaton, who played married couple Ray and Debra Barone on the CBS sitcom which ran from 1996 to 2005, spoke about the possibility of reprising their characters during a June 23 interview with the New York Post. Romano explained a reboot won't happen because several of the show's actors, specifically Peter Boyle, Doris Roberts, and Sawyer Sweeten, have died. Boyle, who died in 2006, and Roberts, who died in 2016, played Ray's parents, Frank and Marie Barone. Meanwhile, Sweeten, who died in 2015, played one of Ray and Debra's sons, Geoffrey Barone.

He explained, "Without them, I don't know what the dynamic is."

Heaton agreed with Romano, stating, "To try to do it again without the cast members that we’ve lost would be a disservice to the show."

Brad Garrett, who played Ray's brother, Robert Barone, made similar comments about doing an Everybody Loves Raymond reboot during a June 2025 interview with People magazine.

He also referenced the passing of Boyle and Roberts.

In addition, Garrett said he is "very grateful" to have been a part of the series.
