Voodoo Doughnut has opened a shop in Venice Beach, its third touristy location in and around Los Angeles.
The chain takes doughnut-box pink to extremes in cheerfully sinister decors. It’s known for its bacon maple bars and serves a Voodoo Doll, a frosted raised doughnut filled with raspberry jelly and impaled with a pretzel stick.
The new shop has its own flavor, Venice Peach, which is a frosted, heart-shaped doughnut filled with peach Bavarian cream. It’s available in a vegan version. Both cost $4.50 each, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, according to a news release.
Voodoo Doughnut was founded in Portland, Ore., in 2003 and opened its first Southen California shop at Universal Citywalk in 2017. A second shop opened at 7101 Melrose Ave. in April.
The Venice shop is at 66 Windward Ave., near Ocean Front Walk and the canal district.
Hours are 7 a.m.-midnight daily.
