However Evans, who made 241 appearances for United, looks likely to uptake a new position with the Premier League giants.

As reported by The Athletic, he is in advanced talks regarding a staff role that’s related to the club’s youth development.

Evans seemingly has the credentials for the job having been one of their successful academy graduates.

The Northern Irishman joined the United youth setup in 2004 and later made his senior debut in 2007.

Three Premier League titles and a Champions League would come his way at Old Trafford in a glittering first spell.

Evans also won two League Cups, four Community Shields, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The centre-back departed United in 2015 for West Brom, for whom he made 96 appearances in three seasons.

After the Baggies’ relegation in 2018, Leicester City triggered his release clause and welcomed him on a three-year deal.

Evans was part of the Foxes squad that won the FA Cup in 2021 and became club captain in his final season.

After being released by Leicester, he signed a short-term deal back at United as part of their pre-season plans.

A position working in youth development could be his next stepAFP

He swiftly sign a one-year deal and win his first FA Cup with the club, before signing another 12-month contract.

However, injury would keep him absent from the side for much of the 2024/25 campaign.

Evans’ last ever competitive appearance for United came in a 2-0 win against Aston Villa in their final Premier League match of the season.

The veteran then featured in their two post-season friendlies against ASEAN All-Stars and Hong Kong.

United next face Leeds United in Sweden before a trip to the United States for matches in the Premier League summer series.

West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton are their opponents before a final pre-season clash against Fiorentina at Old Trafford.
