ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists expect an “atmospheric battle” to set-up this weekend. This happens as the cooler, drier air will give way to hot, steamy weather. For Western New York it will be the time period focused on Saturday night that will bring the potential for strong thunderstorms.
Right now. there is some uncertainty about the timing and location of any storms and there is the chance the storms will be located more towards central and eastern New York. However, it is close enough to Western New York that we feel it is prudent to issue a News10NBC yellow alert for Saturday night.
In addition, the heat and humidity will be building in for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. This will be the hottest and most uncomfortable weather of the season with temperatures pushing the record high temperature for all three days. The heat index, which is the combination of the temperature and humidity, will be within a few degrees of 100. As a result, prepare to slow down, adjust your schedule, drink lots of water, and get some air conditioning.
