Let’s just say Mike Shildt had had enough.

The fuses lit during a long and chippy series finally ignited Thursday late in the Padres’ 5-3 win over the Dodgers.

After right-hander Jack Little — making his major league debut — hit Fernando Tatis Jr. in the hand with a pitch in the ninth inning, both benches emptied behind home plate but no punches were thrown.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts got thrown out for the second time in the series, but this time Shildt was sent packing too – and the beef seemed to be more between the two skippers than among the players.

Reliever Robert Suarez hit Shohei Ohtani with a pitch in the bottom of the ninth and was also ejected. Tatis and Ohtani were each hit by pitches twice in the series.

“He’s been hit five times by this group and played a lot of dodgeball because he’s athletic,” Shildt said of Tatis after the game, while also pointing out that no other team has hit the slugger more than four times. The initial X-rays on Tatis were negative, Shildt added.

Before the fireworks, Xander Bogaerts had a big night, with four hits, including a homer, and three runs scored, propelling his club to the win, as the Padres avoided a four-game sweep.

Rookie Ryan Bergert gave up three hits in 4 2/3 scoreless innings in his fourth career start, and Adrian Morejon (4-3) followed with four consecutive outs – one of them against one of the Dodgers’ fearsome star, Ohtani.

When he replaced Bergert with runners on the corners and two outs, he retired Ohtani on a comebacker to end the threat.

Dodger Yoshinobu Yamamoto (6-6) gave up three runs and seven hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Bogaerts gave the Padres a 1-0 lead in the second inning with his fourth home run, his first since May 14. They went up 2-0 in the fifth inning on Jose Iglesias’ sacrifice fly and Jake Cronenworth added an RBI double in the seventh.

Gavin Sheets had an RBI single and Iglesias drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 5-0 in the eighth.

The Dodgers ended the shutout bid with three runs in the ninth and had the tying run at second base before Yuki Matsui, who picked up his first save, struck out rookie Dalton Rushing.

The Padres return home at 6:40 p.m. Friday to host Kansas City in the opener of a six-game home stand. Nick Pivetta (7-2, 3.40) starts against the Royals’ Michael Lorenzen (4-7, 4.91).
