On June 16, Gellar took to her Instagram account to prove she isn't all that different from her onscreen counterpart, the ever-so-powerful Buffy Summers. featured three videos of Gellar working out in a gym. The actress showed off her muscles while using different types of gym equipment. During her workout, the mother of two wore a crop tank top, leggings, white tennis shoes, and a baseball cap.

Gellar spoke about her decision to reprise Buffy in the upcoming revival, which will star Ryan Kiera Armstrong, in a March 2025 interview with Access Hollywood. She said that Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao convinced her to come back as the iconic Slayer.
According to Gellar, she and Zhao spent the last few years brainstorming the Buffy revival. She also teased that the upcoming show will be "moving forward" during the summer of 2025.
