Diego Pavia says SEC school offered him more than $4 million to transfer after 2024 ...Middle East

Diego Pavia says he was offered more than $4 million to transfer to an SEC program following the 2024 season.

The Vanderbilt quarterback made that claim during an interview on Bussin with the Boys this week. He didn’t name the program, but said multiple teams reached out to him through family members to gauge interest on a potential transfer after the year.

“I don’t know if I’m supposed to share, but anywhere from $4 to $4.5 [million],” Pavia said before confirming it was an SEC program who made the offer.

For much of last season, it seemed as though 2024 would be Pavia’s final year in college football. However, he ultimately received another year after preliminary injunction was granted to allow former JUCO players an extra year of eligibility. That decision was handed down in mid-December.

Pavia chose to remain with Vanderbilt for his final season in 2025. The former New Mexico State transfer had a remarkable season with the Commodores last fall, which included a historic victory over Alabama.

It’s unclear which SEC programs may have been most interested in Pavia last winter. Spring transfers from SEC programs are not able to leave for another in-conference program while maintaining eligibility, so we can assume this process took place in the winter.

Oklahoma, Auburn, Kentucky and Mizzou all added potential starting quarterbacks during the winter portal window. Other SEC programs could have considered a move for Pavia as well.
