The 43-year-old Princess of Wales joined her husband at the Order of the Garter Service on June 16, held at St George's Chapel. As the couple headed to the event, they rode side-by-side in a horse-drawn carriage and appeared to be in good spirits. Prince William, a member of the order, could be seen wearing the traditional velvet robes and high ostrich plume in his hat.
Middleton's appearance marked the first time in several years that she attended the event, as she spent last year mostly out of the public eye while receiving treatment for cancer.
The celebration was also a significant occasion for the couple as 17 years ago, Middleton made her royal debut as Prince William's girlfriend at the very same event. Back in 2008, Prince William received his knighthood in the Order of the Garter and Middleton was invited to attend.
It was a momentous occasion for the royal family, as it signified their acceptance of Prince William's relationship with Middleton. The couple had been dating since 2003 after meeting at the University of St. Andrews and were engaged in 2010.
Middleton has only missed the event a few times, including when she was on maternity leave and going through cancer treatment.
