Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes has added fuel to the fire of one of his side’s long-term transfer targets – by telling them to sign Rodrygo.
The two are teammates with Brazil and have been regularly linked with a reunion at club level as Rodrygo’s game-time dwindles at Real Madrid.

talkSPORT earlier reported that Arsenal are genuine contenders to sign Rodrygo this summer, and it’s fair to say that Gabriel is a fan.
When asked about his Selecao teammate joining him at the Emirates on the Podpah podcast, Gabriel responded: “I don’t know. But I’d like it obviously. He’s a phenomenon.
“I’ve told people already, he’s a phenomenon! If it was up to me, of course!”
Arsenal are in the market for reinforcements up front after a third consecutive runners-up finish.
Madrid, meanwhile, are stacked in that department, which has reportedly caused tension.
Leading Spanish outlet Marca reported that the 24-year-old refused to play in a 4-3 Clasico defeat to Barcelona on May 11 after learning he wouldn’t be in the line up.
The outlet claimed: “He simply doesn’t want to play for Real Madrid again.
“According to close sources, Rodrygo feels displaced after the media explosion surrounding Jude Bellingham and the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, which has created a rift with Vinicius.”
He wouldn’t play for Madrid again during the 2024/25 season after a training ground injury, and later took to Instagram to dismiss the reports about his dissatisfaction.
Rodrygo is regarded as one of the top wingers in world football“Thanks for all the messages and concern. I’ll be back soon,” he wrote before adding: “Stop making stuff up.”
Marca have since claimed that Rodrygo has had productive talks with new manager Xabi Alonso, but that doesn’t change the fact there’s a backlog up front at the Bernabeu.
Spanish football journalist Sam Marsden told talkSPORT: “Rodrygo seems to be the one that’s being pushed towards the door, I think one of Rodrygo or potentially even Vinicius Jr has to go.
“Because you’ve got Mbappe, you’ve got Vinicius Jr, they all want that same space. I don’t know how much of a say Xabi Alonso will have in things.
“Rodrygo has made it clear he wants to play on the left, he’s been playing on the right at Real Madrid so he’s the most obvious one to go.
“But Vinicius Jr might be a bigger money-spinner, and may actually fix their problems a little bit more because they’ve kind of got that status problem between Vinicius Jr, Mbappe, [Jude] Bellingham in the shadows as well.
“Maybe Xabi Alonso can make it work, but it’s not worked at all this season.”
Madrid are understood to value the former Santos man at around £84million, and teammate Bellingham thinks he’s worth every penny.
“Rodrygo is so underrated,” the England midfielder said in February.
“For me, he’s probably the most talented and most gifted player in the squad.
“The things he can do with the football. We’ll be messing around, and he’ll flick the ball up somehow, and you’re thinking: ‘How’d he do that?’
“I’m twisting my ankles if I try that!”
