Travis and Daniels first met as colleagues in the early '90s, and the two developed a long friendship where even their wives became close. Daniels served as a mentor to Travis, which was especially true after Travis suffered a stroke in 2013.

Sadly, it's been five years since Daniels passed from a stroke himself, but Travis still holds his memory dear as was evident after he shared a touching video tribute to his fallen friend. Travis highlighted a tender member between the two when Daniels prayed over him following his injury; it was captioned:

"Charlie Daniels will forever be my favorite artist" shared one viewer. "He was my first concert with Marshall Tucker. He even brought me on stage once when I was 5yrs old and introduced me as his 'biggest little fan.' He was an amazing and Godly man. I remember telling him the first time I met him, 'I want to be a fiddle player like Charlie Daniels.' He told me, 'Darlin I hope you're a better fiddle player than Charlie Daniels.'"
