ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Efforts to recover Zy’Jae St. Pierre, the 5-year-old boy who fell into the Genesee River, have entered their 10th day.
Multiple agencies will continue searching the river. On Monday, the Rochester Police Department, Rochester Fire Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and the State Department of Environmental Conservation used marine units to search from the High Falls to Charlotte.
Search conditions have been challenging due to murky and swirling waters, which aren’t ideal for sonar and pose dangers for divers. The community has come together to help with the search and offer their support at a memorial on the Andrews Street Bridge, where the boy fell on Sunday, June 1.
The boy was with his mother and younger sibling when he ran ahead, climbed over the railing on the bridge, and fell 50 feet. Since then, boats have been on the river every day searching for Zy’Jae. Check back for updates on the search.
