A POPULAR home improvement store that some have dubbed “better than Home Depot” is set to open 10 new locations this year.
The stores are set to open in two major states in the US, and there is the promise of more coming soon.

The company plans to open 10 new locations in 2025, and dozens of others are teased over the next several years.
It is important to note that these plans are separate from the ones it announced in December 2024.
That announcement promised that Lowe’s would open 10 to 15 stores per year.
In a press release, Marvin R. Ellison, Lowe’s chairman, president and CEO said at the time: “As we look ahead to the expected recovery in home improvement, we are making investments to position the company for long-term growth.
“We are evolving our Total Home strategy to help solve our customers’ total home improvement needs with more value and exceptional service
“By leveraging leading technology solutions, we’re creating a best-in-class omnichannel shopping experience for all generations of homeowners.
“At the same time, we’re building on our momentum with Pros now that we’ve reached 30% Pro penetration.”
The press release stated: “In planning this next phase of store expansion, the company will build on the success of its recent new store openings, while also leveraging its enhanced space productivity initiatives.
“With these new stores, the company expects to strengthen its brand position, build its customer base and drive incremental sales and return on invested capital.”
A spokesperson for the company has since confirmed that the altered projection of 5 to 10 stores has been put in place to give Lowe’s time to ramp up its efforts.
NEW LOWE’S STORES
Lowe’s has already made some moves in 2025, having already opened stores in Texas and reopened some in North Carolina.
The North Carolina spots were closed due to Hurricane Helene, a company spokesperson told USA Today.
You can find the Texas spots in Magnolia and Fort Worth and the North Carolina locations in Asheville.
MYLOWE'S REWARDS TIERS EXPLAINED
Here are the tiers included in the Lowe's rewards program:
Bronze Key: Earns 1 point per dollar spent and offers free standard shipping on eligible purchases of $35 or more. Silver Key: Earns 1.25 points per dollar and includes free standard shipping on eligible items with no minimum purchase required. Gold Key: Earns 1.5 points per dollar and provides free standard shipping on eligible items with no purchase minimum.Starting in 2026, Lowe’s plans to open 10 to 15 stores per year over the next few years.
For the rest of the year, Lowe’s has confirmed that Georgetown, Texas and Maricopa, Arizona will be getting Lowe’s stores.
There are not yet any opening dates reported, however.
RIVALRY
Lowe’s is often compared to its rival The Home Depot, and has caused some debate between shoppers over which is best.
This can lead to bitter fights on social media with shoppers defending their preferred store.
In this case, one fan had no issue pitting Lowe’s and Home Depot together, with the former coming out on top in his eyes.
The shopper posted on Facebook on May 30: “Lowe’s is better than Home Depot.”
