Arsenal have stepped up their interest in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, talkSPORT understands.
The Gunners have opened talks with Leipzig after choosing to prioritise the Slovenian ahead of in-demand Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres.

However, the German side have previously been said to be looking for over £90million for their star man.
But with a striker a top priority position for Mikel Arteta in this summer transfer window, it isn’t hard to see why he would be keen to splash the cash on the 22-year-old.
Sesko has scored an impressive 39 goals in 87 games for Leipzig since he joined in July 2023.
He scored 21 goals for his current side in all competitions in the 2024/25, 13 of which came in the Bundesliga as the Red Bulls finished a disappointing seventh.
Despite their preference for Sesko, Arsenal could still make a move for Gyokeres if they are unable to agree a deal with the German side.
But news of the Gunners making Sesko a top priority will certainly please Manchester United.
The Red Devils are keen on signing Gyokeres, who previously starred under their current boss Ruben Amorim when he was in charge of Sporting Lisbon.
Since signing from Coventry City in July 2023, the Swedish marksman has scored a staggering 97 goals and assisted another 28 in 102 games in Portugal.
Over half of his contributions have come this season, with his 52 goals and 15 assists including seven hat-tricks.

Sporting want around £60million (€70m) for Gyokeres – a £25m reduction from his £85m release clause.
And while Arsenal were previously believed to be frontrunners in the race to land the 27-year-old, it is now understood he is also open to a move to Old Trafford.
This is despite United recording their worst-ever Premier League finish of 15th this term, as well as missing out on Champions League qualification after defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final.
Though the Red Devils are yet to open talks with Sporting over a move, they could face competition from Chelsea, who are believed to be considering bolstering their attack.
However, they may no longer have to do battle with Arsenal, whose focus now appears to be on Sesko.

Also standing at 6ft 4in, the Slovenia star also boasts impressive physicality, as well as blistering pace and technical ability.
He has already proven his goalscoring ability in both Austria and Germany, netting 29 times in 79 appearances for Salzburg, before notching 18 in his first season in Germany with Leipzig.
In addition to this, Sesko has also been capped 41 times for Slovenia since making his international debut as an 18-year-old in 2021, going on to score 16 goals.
