The iconic Bimbo Bakeries brand announced on Monday that it's working on distributing new High Protein Bagels.
Each bagel is packed with 20 grams of protein–which is about double that of its original bagel line (and higher than the levels found in some so-called protein bars)–that Thomas' contributed to its blend of plant-based proteins (including soy protein isolate, pea protein isolate, and fava bean proteins).
The "protein forward" grocery store find is debuting in two flavors: Everything Bagel and Plain Bagel, and once you pile on some eggs and veggies, chicken salad, or tuna, and hitting your nutrition goals may not be such a struggle. That said, the macros differ ever so slightly by variety, so if you care about that sort of thing, we suggest reading each label before you buy.
Thomas' High Protein Bagels are available in two classic flavors — Plain and EverythingThomas' newest innovation is hitting shelves in packs of four pre-sliced servings for a suggested retail price of $5.99 (prices vary), presumably in the same aisle as its English muffins, swirled breads and other bagel varieties.
