A fatal two-vehicle crash prompted temporary lane closures on the eastbound I-8 early Thursday morning.
The accident occurred around 2:50 a.m. Thursday when a driver traveling in the wrong direction on Interstate 8 near College Ave. crashed into another vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officials said the two vehicles involved were a dark-colored sedan and a small SUV. One of the vehicles rolled down the highway embankment and crashed into a fence, the CHP said.
The total number of victims involved was not immediately available.
Officials were investigating what prompted the wrong-way driver.
