The Tuscaloosa Police Department announced the arrest of Garland Hall, 48, Thursday following residents’ reports of someone knocking on doors and tapping on windows in areas near campus early Sunday morning.
After police received a 911 call Sunday at around 3 a.m., they found Hall walking in the 700 block of 13th Street, not far from Julia Tutwiler Hall and campus.
He was originally arrested on charges of public intoxication and later released. However, a follow-up investigation from the Tuscaloosa Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division was conducted where police obtained additional evidence and interviews.
Hall was arrested on a warrant Thursday and charged with first-degree criminal surveillance, a misdemeanor, and also received a felony charge for violating the Community Notification Act for Sex Offenders.
TPD officers from the U.S. Marshals Task Force took Hall into custody Thursday morning after being located in Greene County southwest of Tuscaloosa.
Hall is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond. Police said the investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
